PLATO AG Selects Birdstep's RDM Server for their SCIO Product Line

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) April 11, 2008 -- Birdstep Technology (OSE: BIRD), which offers state of the art embedded database technologies, today announced that PLATO AG has selected RDM Server for their next generation SCIO?-Engineering - Software for risk and knowledge management

PLATO AG will use RDM Server to manage all key product and process data inside their SCIO?-Engineering - Software for risk and knowledge management. PLATO AG's primary applications service a wide array of industries, including automotive, aviation, medical technology, electronics, plant and mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, and chemical sectors.

"Risk and knowledge management is a complex problem, and with large scale engineering projects using a database engine that supports complex data modeling, through the network model, allowed us to concentrate on our product rather than the data management," says CTO Marcus Schorn, who is the member of PLATO's Managing Board responsible for PLATO product development. "The result was a more efficient development cycle, superior application performance, and faster time to market with better quality. We are a long time user of RDM databases and when we needed to deploy a multi-user scalable version of SCIO? for huge engineering organizations RDM Server 8.0, was the obvious choice. With a defined upgrade path, we can build on our existing investment in intellectual capital, by re-using our existing code base while taking advantage of the higher end functionality of RDM Server."

"Birdstep has been focusing on the interoperability and compatibility between our products to allow customers like PLATO AG to start out small and grow into our high end products," commented Duncan Bates, Vice President of Product Management at Birdstep. "With a well defined upgrade path, moving both the application development and customer base of a RDM Embedded based application to RDM Server is done in a matter of days, and opens up a new world of functionality."

By tracing Western Civilization back to its beginning, philosopher Peter Kingsley discovered a profound meaning within the creation of this society: The guiding principles that started this culture are as spiritual - indeed mystical - as they are practical. But in society's quest to embrace the concepts of reason and logic created at our beginning we have forgotten the heart at the center of those fundamental and essential teachings - until now. Finding Our Ancient Wisdom brings a new perspective to our modern, hectic world by taking us back to the beginning. Join philosopher/author Peter Kingsley as he explains what this ancient wisdom is and how it can be woven into our everyday lives.

Why Metaphysics? Part 1
What is metaphysics, and why should we bother studying it? What benefits does it have for humanity? What is its purpose? How will its teachings help advance society? How will it assist our civilization and culture to progress? How will our lives be re-created individually and collectively with the application of metaphysical principles? Questions abound concerning metaphysics, for people intuitively feel that it may have something precious to offer in terms of facilitating personal growth and self-empowerment. Among those spiritually inclined, it has become a "prime directive" to understanding their lives in terms of metaphysical principles and concepts such as multi-dimensional realities, the Higher Self, love, karma, reincarnation, etheri...

Rugged Individualism vs Human Nature
"Rugged individualism" is actually a euphemism for Thomas Hobbes' baseless concept of man's natural condition as a war of everyone against everyone else. Even different species of wild animals (each of which has its own group soul, as opposed to humans, which have individual souls) cooperate with one another for their mutual benefit, so Hobbes would have had us believe that mankind is inherently more bestial than the beasts, perhaps explaining the name of the pop "music" group known as the Beastie Boys.

Approaching Metaphysics Part 2
If we think about it we will realize that we are unable to take anything material with us to the higher worlds when we pass on. We are unable to take along with us our house, our money, our possessions, our titles, etc. What we do take along are things that are immaterial--our knowledge, our memories, our karma, our habits, our character, our spiritual and psychic development, our aspirations and desires. We can see from this that our purpose in this world, in this physical plane is in connection with those immaterial things mentioned above, and if--and metaphysics declare it to be so--evolution is a law of Nature, a Cosmic law, then our true purpose is to evolve, to improve and to purify those immaterial things. Our greatest opportunity in...
